ABOUT
Emma Watson is a 25 year old model, actress, and feminist. She was born in Paris, France on April 15, 1990 but moved to London when she was 5 with her mother and brother when her parents got divorced. She was raised in England and considers herself a true Brit. As a little girl, Emma attended a theatre art school in Oxford, and her teachers were the first to realize she had a knack for acting. At age 9, her teachers told her that they were holding auditions for the movie adaptation of Harry Potter, and encouraged her to audition. JK Rowling, who was involved with the audition process, loved Emma from the start, and immediately cast her for the role of Hermione Granger, Harry Potter's best friend. The first Harry Potter movie proved to be a complete success, grossing more than $974 million all over the world, and being nominated for 3 Academy Awards. Emma continued the role of Hermione in all eight Harry Potter movies. The last one came out in 2011.
Emma loved working as Hermione and developed a true connection to her character, but wanted everyone else to see what she can truly do as an actress. She began filming and voicing other movies, acquiring lead roles, in films such as Ballet Shoes, My Week with Marilyn, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, Regression, Noah, and more. Her latest role is Belle in Beauty and the Beast, which comes out in 2017. Her incredible roles have nominated her for many awards, and although an Oscar is still not on her shelf, there's no doubt she'll get it soon. Her success as an actress put her on Forbes' list of "Most Valuable Young Stars", and in 2010 she was named the highest paid female star in Hollywood.
As a young teenage actress, Emma was always fond of her education and learning, and would get, in the midst of all her acting, 5 hours of tutoring a day. Although she's been busy since the day she started filming Harry Potter, Emma enrolled in Brown University with a major in English, demonstrating her true devotion and love towards education. She graduated from Brown in 2014.
There's no doubt that Emma is very beautiful, so it comes as no surprise that she caught the eye of many modeling agencies at a young age. In 2005, she did photoshoots for Teen Vogue and in 2009 she was chosen as the new face for Burberry. In 2011, she was chosen as the new face for Lancome. Emma was given the award for Best British Style at the British Fashion Awards in 2014. Today, she continues being a fashion inspiration to all.
One passion that Emma has always had is advocating women's rights, partly because she feels that people were biased towards her when she was a little girl because she is a female. She has visited numerous countries and given talks to inspire others and demonstrate her beliefs. In 2014, she was chosen as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, and that year she gave a powerful speech in the United Nations, admitting she was a feminist but believed that man-hating "has to stop" as well. In the United States, she also began her campaign called "HeForShe", which advocates gender equality. Her work as an activist landed her the #1 spot on AskMen's "Top 99 Outstanding Women 2015", and spot #26 on TIME Magazine's list of the world's most influential people.
